Austen Alexander on deployment, U.S. Navy Security Forces

U.S. Navy · 2013–2020

My time in the Navy.

Seven years as a Master-at-Arms in Naval Security and Harbor Patrol. What the Navy gave me was perspective, discipline, and the foundation for everything I've built since.

Milestones from active duty.

  1. 2013

    Enlisted.

I dropped out of college, left Florence, Alabama, and signed a contract with the U.S. Navy at 21 years old.

  2. 2013–2020

    Master-at-Arms · Naval Security & Harbor Patrol.

Seven years in the Master-at-Arms rating doing Navy law enforcement and security forces work. I pulled watch, trained, and deployed in harbor patrol and base security assignments.

  3. Mid-service

    Navy Diver tryout.

I attempted the Navy Diver program and didn't pass the swim qualification. At the time, it felt like the dream walked out the door. In hindsight, it was the best failure of my life — it freed me up to find the thing I was actually built for.

  4. Mid-service onward

    The camera.

Halfway through my enlistment I bought a camera and started posting workouts and service content. That audience became the foundation for everything I do now.

  5. 2020

    End of active duty.

Ended my contract and went all-in on the content and ventures. Same year I launched Battle Bunker.
